Early Spring

Time marches on, and the wheel keeps turning.

It's already in the 60s and 70s here in Missouri. My blackberry bush and asparagus are budding. I'm pretty sure my strawberries never actually went dormant this winter.

It's time to get my seeds and seedlings to prepare for planting in a just a few more weeks.

I had an existential crisis in January. Wondering what the hell I was doing with my life, and why the fuck shouldn't I take a giant leap of faith?

So I did. I applied to grad school, to get my Master's in Library and Information Science (called an MLIS for short).

I got in. I GOT IN! OhchristalmightyIgotin!

It's still sinking in, a week later. I'm officially accepted and enrolled. I start in the fall of this year, and I am so. excited.

I feel much more settled now...with everything going on in our country and the world, having my job feel like it was suffocating me was just one more thing I couldn't take. I can't change what #45 is doing, or will do (although...hopefully he'll be gone sooner rather than later), but I can change this. Following my dreams, my heart, my passion, will enable me to make a difference in peoples lives, It will allow me to focus my non work time on activist and volunteer work.

I am so ready.

Here We Go...

So this is it! My first baby step into the world of blog and all that it entails! Truth be told, I'm scared to death, but excited at the same time. This blog is going to be mostly about my efforts, trials, and tribulations as I venture into the world of running my own business, but I will also throw in little tidbits about my life, my passions, and, of course, my musings. I will attempt to be funny and quirky and witty, as I want you, dear readers, to enjoy what I have to say and laugh along with me at life and its curveballs. Shall we begin? A little background...I'm 27 years old, married to a wonderful man named Jon who is a hydraulic mechanic for an aircraft manufacturer and for the Unites States Air Force Reserve. We have a 3 year old son who I will refer to as Dono. He's intelligent, independent, ornery, and the light of my life. We have a pomapoo named Louie who is spoiled rotten but also our little fuzzbucket, and a cat named Kovu that I have had since he was 6 wee...

Not ashamed (of being a foodie)

This is the part where I would normally say "Dang it's been so long since I made a blog post!" But HA! It's only been 5 days! (I'm very proud of myself). I *meant* for it to be sooner, but between a migraine on Wednesday evening and horrid, horrid cramps last night, I got a bit delayed. I did make a fantastic dinner last night, and tonight as well. Last night was chicken milanese with potatoes, mushrooms, and roasted asparagus. I only took a picture of the potatoes and mushrooms though.  Mmm...cast iron cooking for the win, right here! Pictures of food are something that seem to pop up a lot in my instagram, which I guess makes me a foodie. But I'm okay with that, because food is amazing and I like to eat. Part of the reason I keep taking pictures of my food like a weirdo though, is because I finally learned how to cook actual "from scratch" meals, thanks to this lady right here:  Ree Drummond might be a genius. There on the right side, you...

6...almost 7 months later and here we are!

Back in Kansas City! WOOT! It has been a wild ride winter, but we have moved back to Kansas City and are settling in nicely. I have a new job, Jon has a new job, and everything went relatively smoothly...except the one little piece that kind of broke my heart. We were going to buy a house. It was a lovely house, not my dream home but who expects that at 28? I could see our family there and I could see us being happy there. We did everything we were supposed to, I moved up to Kansas City early to start my new job and Jon was continuing on at his place of employment in Wichita. The plan was that he would move up after he got a job up here, but in the meantime we were going to buy this house and get Dono and I settled. Cue 24 hours before the closing date. And it all fell apart, because the mortgage company (from whom we had never hid the fact that he was going to be in Wichita M-F and in KC on the weekends) says that he has to give proof of rent and utilities while living in Wichit...
